Positive Early Dental Experiences
At Uptown Dentistry, we aim to make your child's dental visit as smooth as possible. Our goal is to help them have positive early memories of our dental office and team while learning how to care for their teeth.
With this in mind, we always do the best we can to help children feel at ease during their appointments. From the moment they step into our office until we are all waving goodbye, we're dedicated to making even our youngest patients feel comfortable.
During your child's appointment, we will show them the tools we use and explain what we are doing in kid-friendly terms. We are also happy to offer guidance and age-appropriate tips and techniques to support your child's at-home oral care routine.
Visiting the Dentist for the First Time
It is recommended that children have their first dental visit by the time they are a year old. To help prepare for this appointment, you can talk to them about what to expect. You may find reading an age-appropriate book or watching a fun TV show about dentists helpful for your child.
Preventive Dental Hygiene
Regular dental exams and cleanings will help preserve your child's primary (baby) teeth until they are ready to fall out naturally and make way for permanent (adult) teeth.
A fluoride rinse is used to create a protective barrier on their teeth, making them resistant to acids. Once the hands-on part of the appointment is complete, our dental team will take some time to discuss at-home care and treatment options.
Restorative Dental Services
Some children are at risk of tooth decay, cavities and misalignment issues. If these issues impact your child, their dentist may recommend restorative treatments such as dental fillings and crowns.
